Why a surgeon runs a medical spa

Most medical spas are owned by operators and staffed by injectors, with a physician named on the licence who is rarely in the building. That model works acceptably for facials and adequately for tox. It fails at the point where something goes wrong, or where the right answer is a procedure the injector cannot perform.

This practice is built the other way round. The person assessing you can also operate, which means the recommendation is not constrained by what is available in the room.

What that changes in practice

It changes what gets recommended. A clinic that only injects will offer you filler for a problem that is really descent, because filler is what it has. Being able to offer threads, liposuction and injectables means the plan can follow the anatomy instead of the inventory.

It also changes what gets declined. If your jawline needs surgery, that is what you will be told, and we will point you to a surgeon who does facelifts well rather than selling you three thread lifts on the way there.

The awake approach

Most of the surgical work here is done under tumescent local anaesthesia rather than general. You are awake, comfortable, and you go home the same day. Removing general anaesthesia removes most of the risk profile, most of the recovery, and the anaesthetist's bill.

It also allows something you cannot do under general: standing a patient up partway through a liposuction case to check symmetry against gravity. That single thing improves outcomes more than any device on the market.

Consultations

Free, about twenty minutes, in a closed room. You will be photographed against a standard set of angles, told what would help and what would not, and given a written quote to take home. Nobody will call you to chase a decision and there is no discount for booking on the day — time-limited pricing exists to prevent people from thinking, and thinking is exactly what an elective procedure deserves.

What patients say about him specifically

Mid-face thread lift
“I went in expecting a hard sell on a facelift. He talked me out of two things I'd asked for and did the one that actually needed doing.”
Sarah M.
Mid-face thread lift · Orlando
Shockwave · verified patient
“He told me straight that my case was probably hormonal and shockwave alone wouldn't fix it. Ran labs first. Appreciated not being sold.”
49 · Tampa · name withheld by request
Daxxify · crow's feet
“He talked me down from three areas to two and said the third didn't need it yet. First time anyone's ever sold me less.”
Adriana C.

Ab etching · verified patient
“He asked for my body fat number before he'd quote me, and said come back when it's lower. Came back four months later and he did it.”

Questions about who treats you

Which procedures does Dr. Ramos perform personally?
Every surgical procedure and every injectable — liposuction, fat transfer, threads, all neurotoxin, all filler, all filler dissolving, and the men's procedural work. Facials, laser and IV therapy are performed by licensed clinical staff under his supervision, and you will be told which applies to your treatment before you book.
Will I see him at follow-up too?
For anything he performed, yes. Follow-up with a different clinician is how small problems get missed, and it is not how this practice runs.
Does he ever turn people away?
Regularly, and it is the part of the job that matters most. Threads on someone who needs a facelift, abdominal etching on someone carrying too much fat, TRT for a man whose testosterone is fine — declining those is cheaper for you and better for us than the alternative.
Can I ask for a second opinion on work done elsewhere?
Yes, and a meaningful share of the practice is exactly that. Come in with your photographs and any notes you have. If the honest answer is that the work is fine and you are being hard on yourself, that is what you will hear.
